The concept of Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) was introduced in Pakistan in 1990 and in 1993, Pakistan became a member of the CBR South Asia Network. There was no network of CBR organizations in Pakistan prior to that. In 2009 the participants of the first CBR Asia Pacific Congress held in Bangkok, informally developed the CBR Network for Pakistan and Pakistan became a member of the CBR Asia Pacific Network. Pakistan was then elected the interim coordinator for the CBR Asia Pacific Network. In 2011, the CBR Network Pakistan developed its constitution, strengthened its membership, elected its office bearers and officially established itself as a Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Network. By the end of 2013, the new Network had successfully established all its provincial chapters.
